Without a doubt the most understanding, caring, well-organised and supportive place to begin a difficult recovery journey I can imagine.
The staff are ALL, without exception. an βOceans 11β of professional and very, very caring.folks that make you feel safe, cared for and know that, if youβre here to do this properly, theyβll have your back.
The food is nutritious and the days are made easier by taking things at your tempo.
Though itβs a βshort stayβ detox unit, effectively, if more long term rehabilitation facilities would take a leaf out of their book (and yes, they even have an incredible, detailed booklet thatβs an encyclopaedia of useful advice and even QR codes to everything you can think of needed for recovery) the world would be better off.
Thank you SO much, Gorman.
You guys are amazing
They donβt pick up the phone, wouldnβt take me for detox unless I had a rehab lined up. The public health system failed me so now luckily my partner is getting me gold insurance and my father paid 25k for me to go to private rehab with mental health facilities. Donβt even bother trying to get in here. They donβt even have people who manage their phone lines or any beds and long wait times. Try another detox Center if youβre not as lucky as me to be able to afford other options.
Excellent treatment towards clients and general preparation for clients. I would highly recommend this facility.
Sometimes when I ask for things, I feel like staff are annoyed, and it makes me anxious. I know it might not be intentional, but it affects me.β
Hello, I spent one night here earlier this week, but had to leave due to sensory overload and some outside stressors, nothing to do with gormans unit.
But I will say the staff were so accommodating, the unit is nice and clean, it's a little cold but i think all hospitals are meant to be, I would rate this rehab clinic 10/10 , it's just I wasn't as ready as I need to be to get through the 5 days, but I definitely plan on coming back and giving it another shot once I stabilize again.
Thanks Gormans Unit.
Spent one night here. I will start with the positives: assortment of snacks available, friendly nursing staff, lounge area for watching movies. Negatives- phones get locked at 9PM. The doctor named Chris on staff is poorly trained; has no empathy for the suffering of the patient. Started laughing during our conversation and he shouts too. Very obstinate man. There was a plan all laid out before going in and the he changed it on the spot halving my medicine. Absolute prick! Wasted my time and money going here. Choose a different facility for detox, youβll be better off. Shout out to Nurse Hannah for being such a great nurse - sheβs an absolute gem and really cares for her patients.
Iβve done a detox before so I came into this expecting to be treated very poorly and to be spoken to like I was less than but I can honestly say I was shocked that this wasnβt the case at the Gorman unit at all. The staff are professional, friendly , helpful and kind . It definitely makes detoxing much easier when youβre being treated like a human being. Thank you to all the staff here . Youβve all been wonderful π©·
The most understanding, educated and passionate staff of any treatment / detox centre I've ever had the 'pleasure' of experiencing.
I won't ever forget the staff I've met here, nor the care, compassion and empathy they showed & showered me with.
I won't ever forget the help and care they've provided me with throughout my outpatient & inpatient experiences I've had over the last half decade.
They deserve more praise than they receive.
