Doctors & Nurses COULD do with an upgrade in their training (oh and the administration tell your dr and physciatrist how to manage your health care while you stay there) (I guess they pay their wages so they are really slaves of the system), pity we can't clone professional service ~ other than a handful of caring staff avoid the place~ when in need of REAL compassion in time of deep need GO SOMEWHERE THAT CARES even Cairns Private are smaller but warmer and very professional and very caring their team of Drs at Cairns far surpass the Townsville Clinic. The Townsville Clinic think it is a joke. HUMANITY DESERVES RESPECT DIGNITY AND PROPER CARE. ALSO RESPECT IS EARNED IF YOU TREAT US WITH DISDAIN OR DONT MANAGE OUR HEALTHCARE PROPERLY AND WE DONT COPE GUESS WHO HAS TO WEAR IT IN THE END. Please consider carefully before choosing a place to heal when you are very ill. YOUR life and ongoing quality of life depends on it.
Can't or won't get back to you for even a simple enquiry.
Either unpleasant or unhelpful staff on visiting.
I notice that all of the previous negative reviews are no longer here.
Extraordinarily bad!
Extremely long wait times. 2-5 months, I was just told. I got a referral for this clinic a year ago, waited ages, got a letter in the mail saying 'we cannot see you.' Got a second referral weeks ago, called them, no good for 2-5 months (depending on your triage lol). Appointments cost for a one-off is like $800 before rebate, for ongoing care it's like $600 per session before rebate. If you need semi-urgent/urgent medication or support, this is not the clinic for you. Also spoken at length to 6 former patients of the clinic, all report bad outcomes and experiences. Cannot recommend.
Had two stays in TPC - about 53 nights in total. I found the food to be excellent in both my stays (2023 & 2025). Staff are supportive and validating. Despite signs/mess, the organisation doesn't respect gender identity.
I strongly advise transgender, gender diverse, & non-binary people to seek out an organisation.
Dr. Katie Boles is simply exceptional at her profession. Her passion for her work is evident, and she stands out as one of the most remarkable doctors I have ever collaborated with. The progress I have made under her guidance is truly impressive. Her intelligence is nothing short of remarkable, and she demonstrates a deep care for all her patients. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone in need of medical assistance. If youβre seeking effective results, Dr. Katie is, without a doubt, the best choice. Words cannot adequately convey the excellence of her work.
This is my first admission and I'm feeling very comfortable and well supported. All the staff from psychiatrist to kitchen staff have all been excellent in listening to my needs and are very friendly. Neat modern facilities, be nice if there was a internal court yard for evenings as I don't like to walk around the back of the building I feel unsafe as it's not fenced off to the public get a few odd charaters hanging around the area in the evenings. Food is really yummy and plenty of variety. Plenty of variety in groups run. you have to also remember there is no magic pill, fixing your mental health takes a lot of work, dedication and commitment to staying on track to your treatment plan. It can be extremely emotional hard some days being in hospital away from family and friends but remember your here to work on you so that you can live a life that you deserve.
TPC do an excellent job. Treating mental health is like herding cats. Thanks to all at TPC
Iβve been waiting all year to hear back regarding the referral my GP sent them. Nothing. My GP has received no correspondence from the clinic either.
I would have followed up, but decided to look at other options instead.
This is not only because I think itβs wrong, unprofessional and possibly harmful to not inform referred patients about the status of their appointments/review outcomes, but also due to seeing a Dr there once before.
The βspecialistβ I saw that time, did not even speak with me regarding my feelings or the issues I was having. I had never seen a psychiatrist before and thought I was going in to have an in depth discussion regarding my mental health, to try to perhaps find a cause or some guidance.
Instead, she just went off the GP referral and my questionnaire, saying it was only a once-off diagnostic appointment so βwe did not have time to get into those thingsβ.
So without all the extra information I wanted to provide, she decided I did not need a follow up appointment. (which I believe I actually did require)
I was then given a broad generalised diagnosis. My depression/anxiety medication was also switched - to one that made me worse.
Luckily, Iβm very fortunate to have a wonderful GP and caring psychologist, who are helping me while I wait for an appointment elsewhere.
Iβm not sure if this clinic is understaffed, or just poorly run. But I would not recommend it as a first choice to anyone looking for thoughtful, caring and personalised treatment.
